Why OneFamily has supported Brighton & Hove Pride for the past 10 years

August 2025

Jim Islam, Chief Executive Officer

A few weeks ago, Brighton & Hove Pride colourfully and joyfully took over the city of Brighton. This year’s theme of Ravishing Rage spoke to the resilience, spirit and passion of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Pride means celebration, but it’s also about education, activism and advocacy. It’s a platform that amplifies the voice of the LGBTQIA+ community and continues the fight for their global rights.

We have made a lot of progress in the UK, but there are still many, many parts of the world where the community faces lots of challenges. I grew up in one of those places, and that experience shaped my perspective.

That’s the reason why I’m proud to be an ally, and proud to be the CEO of OneFamily, a business that has supported Brighton & Hove Pride for ten years.

"Pride is a platform that amplifies the voice of the LGBTQIA+ community and continues the fight for their global rights"

As a company that’s based in the city, we are part of the city. It’s who we are. Our people reflect our diverse culture and we celebrate that. We want our colleagues to feel that they can be their authentic selves at work. Always.

And as a committed supporter of Brighton & Hove Pride we see it as our duty to give a voice to the community and to be a platform that amplifies its messages of love, joy and activism.

Brighton is a party city most days, but during Pride, we celebrate with purpose.

And why not? This is who we are. And we are proud.
